Edible North Dakota is part of Edible Communities, the world’s largest media network dedicated to the local food movement since 2002. With nearly 90 regional magazines across the U.S. and Canada producing six million copies each year. We’re proud to do what so many others are doing in their states and communities and bring North Dakota’s food stories alive on our pages to lift up our state and connect every consumer more closely with where their food comes from.
For me, launching Edible North Dakota felt less like a business decision and more like coming home. I grew up on a ranch where the seasons set the schedule and supper told the story of the day. My roots run deep in food and community—one grandmother owned a café, the other was a school cook, and my mom ran the local grocery store. Those experiences shaped my belief that food isn’t just what sustains us—it’s what connects us.
After more than 30 years working at the intersection of agriculture, marketing, and storytelling, I knew it was time to create a space where North Dakotans could see themselves reflected in the food we grow, cook, and share. Edible North Dakota celebrates the farmers and ranchers, bakers and brewers, chefs and changemakers who make our food culture vibrant and uniquely ours.
Now more than ever, North Dakotans are looking to reconnect—to their roots, to their local businesses, and to the stories that bring us together around the table. That’s what Edible North Dakota is here for: to celebrate the taste of belonging, one story, one recipe, and one season at a time.
